Sorry to Bother You Is That Rare Cinematic Experience You Just Have To See For Yourself

One of the most anticipated movies of the year has finally been released. Just from the trailer, to the buzz from critics and audiences, and of course the plot has everyone intrigued with what is so special about Sorry to Bother You. Let’s not forget that it stars one of the best up and coming actors in the game right now and that’s Lakeith Stanfield. Stanfield has been blowing up with is performances in last year’s Get Out and while not critically acclaimed movie, his performance in Netflix’s Death Note was great. How did his performance and this latest film from Director Boots Riley turn out to be?

Ant-Man and The Wasp Review

bustle

Coming off of an emotionally draining Avengers: Infinity Wars film, Marvel decided to lift our spirits once again 3 mos. later with its latest entry into the MCU. This is perfect timing seeing as the last film ended on a sorrow note. Ant-Man and the Wasp is a great solution to turn our frowns upside down because not only is Ant-man a great action hero but Ant-Man, a.k.a. Scott Lang, a.k.a. Paul Rudd is funny as hell. These two films concentrate more on the comedy and fun so far and Ant-Man and the Wasp doesn’t disappoint in that category.

Scott Lang is coming to the end of his punishment for the actions he took going to Germany and helping Cap during Civil War. Sentence to house arrest and not to use the suit again he has taken fatherhood to the next level and is playing by the rules to make sure to have a life with his daughter. Hope and Hank have also suffered from Lang’s actions are on the run as they cannot afford to give up their tech and secrets. Overlapping with the events of Infinity Wars, we found out what Lang had to deal with during that time. Anew threat has risen, someone from the past has a chance to be saved, and Ant-Man has a new partner and she is BAD ASS.

I will admit, when the film started, it felt a little off. I really enjoyed the opening sequence but just playing catch up with what has been going on with Lang and the others was a little weird. That doesn’t last long when we finally see Hope Pym (Evangeline Lilly) put on the suit and start kicking butt as she was meant to be. With her added to the superhero gig now, the action has been amped up compared to the first installment. Great choreography and visuals you would expect from a Marvel film are at play here and I liked every bit of it.

The comedy is great too. Paul Rudd continues to charm us with his goofy and sometimes sarcastic antics we know from Rudd. He still demonstrates that he belongs in this franchise and universe as our favorite cat burglar. Michael Pena, who stole the show as Luis in the first film, is back who is also with the straight and narrow going legit and trying to start a new company. He shows up more through this film and it was the right move.

What I didn’t expect was another central storyline to take over the entire plot. This is not a bad thing but I just expected there to be more to what happened between infinity war and now. You will see what I mean when you watch the film. The villain of the story, Ghost, played by Hannah John-Kamen, I am still thinking more about but I think overall, she is on top of the villain list in the MCU. She means of madness is not as trope or cliché that you come to expect and I think that gives her a one up over most of the evil doers that we are use to seeing from these movies.

Bottom line this is a great sequel and follow up to the previous one. It’s funnier, more action, bigger theatrics, and each character know matter big or small are likable. During my viewing of the movie I noticed a bit of foreshadowing tidbits that we could expect in Avengers 4. Also, if you have seen any TV spots for this movie, they talk about an ending that will rock your world. Trust that it delivers. Please for the love of the Almighty Thanos, don’t get up from your seat. Stay through the credits. I am still seeing people leave the theatre right when the credits pop up and with this being the 19th entry, I think people should know by now there is always something during the credits. This time its worth seeing. This isn’t a perfect MCU movie but Ant-Man and the Wasp continues to shine and also standalone among the rest establishing their light-hearted tone while amplifying the action some thought the first one lacked.
