Ghost Stories Takes Us Back to the Basics of Chilling Story Telling

All I had to do was take one look at this poster and know that this was going to be a favorite of mine. A movie that I would buy for my collection without hesitation. A film that I don’t even need to look at the trailer to tease me with excitement. That is exactly what I did. I went to see this movie during its one week release here in Los Angeles without watching a single trailer. The only things I knew about this movie is the actors who were in it, the title which indicated that I was in for an anthology movie, and the plot description. No regrets, going into this blind or little to know just enhanced my enjoyment into this creepy old school movie of creepy tales of things that go bump in the night.

This 2017 British horror stars Andy Nyman, who also co-wrote and directed this film with Jeremy Dyson, is a skeptic professor Goodman and non-believer of the supernatural. So much, he has decided to make a career of debunking any claims of the supernatural or the paranormal. His idol, who followed the same beliefs, gives him an opportunity to change his ways and open his mind to the possibility that these stories are true by revisiting 3 specific cases that couldn’t be proven to be fake. During this expedition he is questioning his own merits and also his sanity as he slowly has revelations about his profession and his past.

Avengers: Infinity War Review

Welcome back movie geeks. I am sure you have seen or read so many entries, reviews, tweets, post regarding this movie and it’s only Day 1, well Day 1 ½ if you were like me and saw this movie Thursday night. So to try and separate myself from other articles, this review is from an entertainment perspective from the point of view of an average movie goer. Spoiler Free.

If you were me, you know that you have went through 18 movies in 10 yrs old for this moment that it all comes together. Literally, almost all the superheroes we met in so far appeared in the film to band together and take down the biggest villain they have all faced and that is Thanos. The latest adversary has been hinted throughout the 3 Phases we have had introducing each member of the Avengers and Thanos’s plan to wipe away the universe once he collects 6 infinity stones. So the question I want to address is does this movie live up to the hype?

Movie Geek & Proud: Pilot/Beetlejuice

The time has come. This blog is officially now a podcast. Which actually is the same day as the perfect day a.k.a. Miss Congeniality Day. Total coincidence by the way, I didn’t do that on purpose.

Anyhow, be the first to listen to a brand new podcast hopefully on the rise. Doing the same thing I do on this blog which is review movies current and older. This time around, I will be joined by my friends and friends of friends to talk about movies as well. I will be doing some trailer reactions, movie reviews with and without spoilers, and all kinds of different segments.

First episode is in honor of its 30th Anniversary, Beetlejuice. This is one of my favorite movies and this is a perfect start to an ongoing podcast that will be posting a new episode every Wednesday. Make sure to like and follow your favorite social media for updates on new episodes. Currently on Soundcloud, I will be up and running on iTunes and other podcast apps shortly. Comment your thoughts on today’s premiere episode and enjoy.

I Feel Pretty Tackles the Idea of Beauty and Confidence

When I first saw the trailer for this film, this was piggy backing off of the not so well received previous film starring Amy Schumer Snatched. I was a bit skeptical as to what would come next for her, and the trailer to her new comedy I Feel Pretty has a great concept. I was very curious to see what they would do with it. It’s no secret that insecurity is something that we all deal with somewhere in our lives. So this film already has a step up with being relatable. Adding someone to star like Schumer, who is funny and also represents the “real woman”, is a great choice to carry out this idea from co -writer/directors Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein.

I FEEL PRETTY

This story involves Schumer as Renee Bennett struggling with her insecurities, mostly with her looks, has a bump on the head and wakes up suddenly feeling like she looks completely different but also beautiful even though she looks exactly the same. She now has so much confidence, she uses her “new looks” to go after her dreams which includes a new job opportunity.

Rampage The Movie (2018) Review

Remember the day when you saw a trailer and it seemed that Will Smith was starring in it. Action, Drama, Comedy, you name it he was in it. Then, you blink and all of a sudden every movie is starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. To quote a friend of mine, “Every time you go see a movie starring The Rock, there’s a preview for another movie starring The Rock.”

I gotta say, that is exactly what happened to me over the past weekend when I went to go see the latest video game to film adaptation, Rampage, in theatres. While watching the trailers to this film, I witnessed another film starring The Rock called Skyscraper. I have mixed feelings about that one but it has Neve Campbell on the big screen again so take my money. We are not talking about Skyscraper, we are talking about Rampage, the latest action adventure popcorn movie loosely based on the video game about oversized animals demolishing a city in its path while trying to destroy each other. To bring it to the big screen, you need to have some humans involved to develop a story and The Rock stars as  primatologist Davis, whose best friend is a rare albino gorilla named George who is infected with a toxin that causes him and two other animals into giant aggressive killing machines. With the help of a Geneticist Kate (Naomie Harris) they hope to find a cure and stop these animals from wreaking havoc.
